Session 8: Sizing Microservice with Integrated Approach of FPA and SNAP – Session eligible for SNAP certification renewal activity

Time: 2:35 pm – 3:05 pm BRT – (ET time 1:35 pm – 2:05 pm)

Workshop Abstract:

Applications are made up of functional and non-functional components. Function point analysis sizes the functionality being provided to the user and therefore can be used to size just the functional components of any application.

The difference with projects that build and enhance application with Microservices is the quantity of non-functional components. From the end user’s perspective, the functional requirements pertain only to the requirements which user can experience. This perception restricts the analysis, yielding a result that is not representative of the work involved in the entire project. It is possible to size entire application inclusive of UI layer & involved Microservices along with the data functions using Function point and SNAP point and the approach to doing so is outlined in this talk.
