Agile Planning and Monitoring with Kanban and Measurement

Knowledge Café Webinar Series

Hello Friends,

IFPUG Knowledge Café series brings you unmissable opportunity to learn and discuss one hot topic with Mr. Thiago Conceição and Dr. Carlos Simões, IT measurement & management experts. They will share their experience on Software Measurement with Agile.

Some people are disappointed and even skeptical about agile methods. But is the problem with agile? Or do we blame agile for placing too many expectations as a silver bullet while we continue to make the same mistakes of the past: we don’t measure.

The famous quotes  “You can’t control what you can’t measure” – Tom DeMarco  and “What can be measured can be improved” – Peter Drucker.  Have never been so relevant.

You will not want to miss this IFPUG Knowledge Café.

The first step in planning the fulfillment of business needs related to software development is understanding the organization’s productive capacity, that is, its IT workforce needs. Workforce outsourcing is increasingly a strategic choice, facilitating innovation, flexibility, efficiency in the execution of processes, meeting peaks in internal or external demand and eliminating fixed costs of production capacity. The strategy of partitioning business needs into small evolutions or new developments and distributing to the outsourced workforce, as well as measurement analysis facilitates agile planning and monitoring, and the adoption of a development method such as Kanban. The management of the service level agreement between contractor and supplier includes evaluating the performance and quality of services performed by the outsourced workforce.

Maybe you’ve heard someone say that it is not possible to use function points with agile methods.

This webinar will show how to do that. Let’s discuss it together. We will discuss ways to:

We present a measurement- supported method that helps organizations to quickly plan and monitor software development by adopting Kanban. With this, it is possible to define and monitor the prioritization, performance, and quality of software development and maintenance demands, as success factors for good organizational performance.

But how to do this using function points? Can I use function points and Kanban?

In addition, we will present a two case studies.

Are you curious yet?

You can learn more about the subject in the article published by the presenters in the latest issue of Metric View on page 12.
