IFPUG is excited to announce two new leadership opportunities for 2024. We are currently seeking volunteers for a new Forecasting and Software Estimation Committee and a Training Program Taskforce.
Charting the Future of Predictive Software Planning
Welcome to the dawn of a new era in IFPUG. In the dynamic software environment, the ability to accurately predict the price, resources, time and costs associated with software projects is invaluable. Recognizing this, IFPUG is thrilled to introduce the Forecasting and Software Estimation Committee (FSEC).
It is expected that this committee will deal with estimation with a focus on:
- Research & Methods: Delve into the latest tools, techniques and methodologies related to software estimation, forecasting and end-to-end estimation process. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the different techniques. Publish a Point of View (POV) for industry consumption.
- Feedback & Continuous Improvement: Implement mechanisms for collecting feedback successes with an estimation approach and corresponding estimation accuracy.
- Collaboration & Communication: Foster open communication among the estimation partners of IFPUG.
- Business Forecasting and Productivity Data Analysis and Summarization: Foster communication with industry groups to publish content on forecasting tools, software productivity and costing benchmarks.
The Committee will have an interim Chair in this startup phase—Christine Green, Past President of IFPUG—but it is expected to find a Chair among the volunteers, when the time is right.
It is expected that volunteers have an understanding of estimation of software—
especially parametric estimation.
While passion is the primary requirement, volunteers should be prepared for:
- Bi-weekly virtual meetings
- Collaborative sessions
- Regular email updates and check-ins
Help Shape the Future of Training in IFPUG
We are thrilled to announce the inception of a new Training Program Taskforce, dedicated to define the training strategy in IFPUG’s three sizing standards. However, to ensure its success and relevance, we need YOUR expertise to define how and develop a recommendation for the mission and vision of training in IFPUG sizing standards.
The Taskforce will be led by Christine Green, Past President of IFPUG.
The Taskforce will have a early focus towards:
- First Step: create a recommended strategy and develop training program content for Board approval.
- Second Step: implement the program and make this available for members and companies around the globe.
IFPUG is looking for volunteers who have Experience in Training, especially those who have hands-on experience in training in Function Point Analysis (FPA), Software Non-functional Assessment Process (SNAP), or Simple Functional Points (SFP).
Whether you are part of a software vendor team, a client of these vendors, an independent consultant or belong to a company that is a training provider, your perspective is invaluable.
If you volunteer, there are several benefits for you and your company:
- You will have impact and directly influence the strategy, mission, and content of this new training program.
- You will likely be engaging with top professionals, vendors, and clients within the IFPUG community.
- You will learn and gain insights and deepen your knowledge about the evolving landscape of FPA, SNAP, and SFP.
While passion is the primary requirement, volunteers should be prepared for:
- Bi-weekly virtual meetings
- Collaborative sessions
- Regular email updates and check-ins
