Improved the IFPUG SNAP counting process: sizing help methods

August 24, 2017 Committees General

The IFPUG Non-functional Sizing Standards Committee (NFSSC) announces the release of “A New Approach for Sizing Software Help” white paper.

IFPUG and the Marymount University (USA) recently completed a joint research to improve the process for subcategory 2.2 (“Help Methods”) of the SNAP (Software Non-functional Assessment Process) Assessment Practices Manual. The results of this research were presented at the ISMA 13 conference in Mumbai, and are now available.

This new SNAP process improves the accuracy of sizing Help Methods and its correlation with the work effort needed to provide this subcategory.

Until the new SNAP process is published in the next version of the APM (Assessment Practices Manual), users may adopt it as a local counting rule and use it as a local policy and footnote corresponding SNAP counts accordingly.

The white paper can be downloaded from the IFPUG online store (without charge for IFPUG members). For further information, please contact nfssc@ifpug.org
