Tracks Summary

New to ISMA? The following Track descriptions will guide you in selecting Conference sessions.

Function Point Practitioner – This track provides general information to measurement practitioners on counting function points as well as specific examples of counting in areas of broad interest.

Function Point Applications – Presentations in this track describe approaches taken using function points for a variety of purposes including standard sizing and reporting as well as special uses such as process improvement, alternatives analysis, and others.

Estimation – This track provides examples and information for using function points to estimate effort, schedule, cost and other aspects supporting software project and program management.

Metrics – Presentations are provided that cover the definition, collection, storage, analysis, communication and usage of measurement information based on function points to support, inform, alert and guide teams, organizations and processes.

Management – This track covers the use of functional sizing software measurement to support business decision making, organizational change, proposal and contract specification and executive management in general.

Issues & Ideas – This track offers extended and innovative approaches to measurement, raises issues related to measurement practices and usage, and offers some potential solutions to the problems related to software measurement.

Workshops

As in the past, the ISMA Cinco! Conference will offer a variety of measurement and professional development workshops. Specific offerings will be finalized and available on the IFPUG website and at www.optionbrasil.com.br/evento/isma5_2010/index.asp. Course materials and snack breaks on the day of your course are included with your pre-paid pre-registration. Attendance in all courses is limited to 20 students, so register soon.

Vendor Fair

New this year! The ISMA Conference Vendor Fair is a TWO day-long opportunity for attendees to speak and learn one-on-one about exhibitors’ products and services. To become an ISMA Cinco! Vendor in São Paulo, please contact Lúcia Martins with Option Brasil at luciamartin@uol.com.br.

General Information

Registration: Registration is required for all participation. The official ISMA Cinco! Conference badge is required for admission to all workshops, sessions and meal functions.

How to Register: The necessary Registration Form is available online via the appropriate links below. There are two separate registration sites for ISMA Cinco! Brazilian attendees must register with Option Brasil; all other attendees, must register with IFPUG at the following websites:

Workshops: Workshop registration includes the program for the day of the course, instructional materials and breaks.

Conference: Conference registration includes the two-day program’s instructional materials and breaks.

Substitutions: Substitutions of one person for another from the same company location is acceptable. There is no cost for substitutions. Please notify the IFPUG Office or Option Brasil of a substitution in writing prior to the meeting so our records may be corrected and a proper badge can be prepared for the substitute.

Hours: All Workshops are scheduled to run from 8:30am – 5pm. The Registration Desk will be open from 8am – 6pm daily (excluding lunch) during the Conference.

Attire: Attire for this educational meeting is business casual. Please note: Although the late winter/early spring season in Brazil is generally moderate, all IFPUG activities take place in air-conditioned rooms, so we recommend dressing in layers for maximum comfort.

Non-Brazilian Residents Only:
Photocopies of the registration form are acceptable. All fees must be paid in full when submitting registration forms. Acceptable methods of payment are check, money order, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Registrations postmarked after the August 1, 2010 early bird registration deadline will incur additional fees.

Confirmations: Registration confirmation will be sent to you within three (3) business days of processing your registration and payment. Please do NOT call the IFPUG Office for confirmation.

Cancellation: All cancellations must be in writing. Cancellations received after confirmations have been processed are subject to a $50 administrative fee. After August 7, 2010, a $250 cancellation fee will be incurred. After August 21, 2010, NO refunds will be given.
