CEP non-IFPUG Venue Process to Schedule a Class - Overview

In the past, continued CFPS certification has been achieved through reexamination every three (3) years. The CFPS Certification Extension Program provides an alternative to the examination through a system of accumulating Certification Extension Credits (CEC) through a variety of Activities (Click here to learn more about the CFPS Certification Extension Program). A joint task force with representatives from the Education Committee, IFPUG Board of Directors, International membership and Certification Committee has expanded three of the CFPS Certification Extension program Activities. The three Activities – Taking, Teaching and Authoring Classes – may now take place at non-IFPUG venues and be eligible for CEC.

Courses must first be registered by the Service Provider using the CEP non-IFPUG Venue Process to Register a Course. Once a course has been registered, the Service Provider will use the CEP non-IFPUG Venue Process to Schedule a Class to ensure that each time the class is taught it is CEC eligible for the students and/or instructor, and it is properly advertised on the IFPUG web site.

The CFPS Certification Extension Program is under the jurisdiction of the IFPUG Certification Committee and class direction is the province of the IFPUG Education Committee, with oversight for both provided by the IFPUG Board of Directors.

The IFPUG Board of Directors reserves the right to change or discontinue the CFPS Certification Extension Program and/or the Service Provider Class Registration processes at any time, without advance notice. CFPS Certification Extension Program applications postmarked prior to such discontinuance will be evaluated under then current program rules.

Process to Teach a Class for CEC Eligibility

Service Provider notifies IFPUG Office that a Registered Class has been scheduled
The Service Provider will notify the IFPUG Office of a newly scheduled Registered Class by completing the CEP non-IFPUG Venue Scheduled Class Form. The form may be :
~ completed online (not yet available),
~ emailed to IFPUG at ifpug@ifpug.org,
~ faxed to IFPUG at (609) 799-7032, or

~

mailed to IFPUG at 191 Clarksville Road, Princeton Junction, NJ 08550.

A separate Form must be completed for each Class occurrence. There is a $150 Class occurrence fee which must accompany each Scheduled Class Form.

The Service Provider will also use the Scheduled Class Form to notify the IFPUG Office of changes and cancellations. Cancellations received one (1) week prior to the schedule Class start date will be refunded $100 of the Class occurrence fee.

Certification Committee reviews Scheduled Class Form

The Certification Committee will review new and changed Scheduled Class Forms to verify Service Provider Course registration, instructor CFPS certification and schedule timing.

NOTE: Classes scheduled the week before or the week of an IFPUG Workshop or Conference will NOT be CEC eligible.

IFPUG Office posts newly scheduled Registered Class on IFPUG web site
After review and approval of the Scheduled Class Form (see 2.2 above) the scheduled Class will be posted on the IFPUG web site Posting will occur within ten (10) business days of receiving the Form and the Class occurrence fee. See the Scheduled Class Form for details on information that will be posted for each Class occurrence.
Service Provider sends Class roster and instructor evaluation forms to the IFPUG Office

After the scheduled Class is completed, the Service Provider will send the original class roster, signed by the instructor, and the original instructor evaluation forms to the IFPUG Office, retaining a copy for their records. The IFPUG Office will send a copy of the instructor evaluation forms to the Education Committee.

The IFPUG Office will store Class documentation in a secure manner for all Registered Class occurrences. These records will remain confidential, except for as needed access by the Education Committee and the Certification Committee.

IFPUG Office sends electronic Class certificates to participants

The IFPUG Office will produce secure electronic class completion certificates for each student on the class roster after receiving all class fees, the class roster and the original instructor evaluation forms. The Office will email certificates directly to students if an email address is provided on the roster. If no email address is provided for a student, the electronic certificate will be forwarded to the Service Provider for distribution to the student.

Students/Instructors retain Class documents
Students are responsible for retaining their Class certificates for use when applying for Certification Extension. Instructors are responsible for retaining a copy of the Class roster for use when applying for Certification Extension. Both students and instructors should refer to the application instructions within the CFPS Certification Extension Program document posted on the IFPUG web site under Certification.
