ISBSG TASK GROUP

The ISBSG Task Group represents the IFPUG members in the efforts of the ISBSG.
IFPUG is the USA member of the ISBSG, an international, not-for-profit organization that has established and now grows, maintains and exploits three independent repositories of IT history data to help improve the management of IT globally:

Current members of the ISBSG represent IT and Metrics Associations from thirteen countries (Australia, China, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, UK, USA).

The ISBSG mission:
"To improve the management of IT resources by both business and government, through the provision and exploitation of public repositories of software engineering knowledge that are standardized, verified, recent and representative of current technologies".

The data in these repositories can be used for estimation, benchmarking, project management, infrastructure planning, bid planning, outsource management, standards compliance and budget support.

The ISBSG is unique

	It has the only international data repositories that are accessible to all (including students, small businesses, large corporates) for a modest fee.
	All ISBSG data is validated and rated in accordance with its quality guidelines, current, representative of the industry, independent and trusted, captured from a range of organization sizes and industries
	Industry leaders around the world contribute to the ISBSG’s development, offering the highest metrics expertise worldwide.

IFPUG members pay less for ISBSG products

Submit your data and be rewarded
IFPUG members are encouraged to submit their project or application details the ISBSG to be included in one of the three international repositories. The ISBSG offers free Data Collection Questionnaires (DCQs) to enable the collection of relevant metrics, and these DCQs can also be used to help establish an in-house metrics program. In appreciation to organizations’ that submit data to the repositories, benefits are offered such as a Free Benchmark Report which compares the submitted projects to similar ones in the repository. The ISBSG recognizes the imperative of guaranteeing the anonymity of the organizations’ that submit data to its repositories. The ISBSG carefully follows a secure procedure to ensure that the sources of its data remain anonymous. Only submitters can identify their own projects/applications in the repositories using the unique identification key provided by the ISBSG Administrator on receipt of a submission.

ISBSG Task Force: Primary / Current Activities

	Participating in ISBSG activities and meetings to establish the policies that govern the operations of ISBSG, and to define the data collected, its management, and the reports and other results that will be made available to practitioners around the world.
	Seeking sources of data for submission to the ISBSG repositories.
	Coordinating with IFPUG to make ISBSG materials available to IFPUG members at special IFPUG member rates.
	Developing courses to explain the uses that ISBSG data may be put to.
